FAQ

What is the Friction Velocity?
Friction velocity, also called shear velocity is the velocity at which fluid particles adjacent to a boundary start to experience significant shearing motion due to the turbulent flow. Friction Velocity is usually measured using the Meter per Second for Speed. Note that the value of Friction Velocity is always positive.
Can the Friction Velocity be negative?
No, the Friction Velocity, measured in Speed cannot be negative.
What unit is used to measure Friction Velocity?
Friction Velocity is usually measured using the Meter per Second[m/s] for Speed. Meter per Minute[m/s], Meter per Hour[m/s], Kilometer per Hour[m/s] are the few other units in which Friction Velocity can be measured.
